IMPORTANT REMINDERS (11/10-11/16)

Here are some important reminders:

IGNITE 2011- As of last night, we only have 10 spots left!!! Turn in your $$$ ASAP!!! We will have no room after that and there will be no exceptions!!!

(11/10) TONIGHT- Come by the church tonight from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM to work on our Christmas lighting. If you are looking for community service hours this will be a good way to get some. If you come out, I promise that God will bless you for it:-)

(11/11) Tomorrow @ 11:11 AM- We are encouraging all flipsiders to spend 11 minutes in prayer. The average time a Christian spends in prayer is about 3 minutes a day. We want to break this habit as people all over the world will spend 11 min praying at this time. During these 11 minutes, we want you to focus on praying for the following:

  • Pray for God to move in your school, your city, and your state.
  • Pray for your friends that don’t know Jesus (write a list)
  • Pray that God  will give you a renewed determination to make a difference where ever you go and whatever you do.

You can pray at home, at work, even at school. Not only that, we will have the church open at this time for anyone who would like to stop by. The most important thing is that we are doing this together for God to move.

(11/12) Saturday- If you plan on going to Lunch & A Movie, be sure to be here at the church at 11:30 AM. We will watch the first showing of the movie @ 12 PM. So be sure to be on time and know that we wont be eating lunch till about 2 PM. You will be responsible for bringing enough money for the movies and lunch.

(11/13) Sunday- Hope to see you at church @ 10 AM!! From 2:30 PM – 5 PM we have Guys Tag Football behind flipside. All you guys that like to play football, we hope to see you there.

(11/16) Wednesday- Don’t forget that its Camo Night!! Wear something that has camo (hat, shirt, pants, shoes, or if you have a whole outfit, that would be cool.) Take sometime now to invite someone to come with you and lets pack flipside out!!!

Awesome Night at flipside!!! (11/9)

Last night was a great night at flipside. A lot of new faces, some old faces that haven’t been in a while, and a great crowd of students!!! For those of you that missed you missed a “unique” night at flipside. A handful of students rededicated their lives to God and all of flipside was given insight into the “gift” that God has blessed them with. Here is a recap on last nights message as we hit on week 3 of the “Ghost” series (Be sure to scroll down to get a recap on the other weeks):

  • One of the main things we have been stressing is that Holy Spirit is a gift that God has blessed us with.
  • One of the cool things about the Holy Spirit is that He is a gift within a gift.
  • That gift gives us a supernatural ability to do God’s work on earth.
  • These “spiritual gifts” help us to accomplish what God wants us to accomplish.
  • Read 1 Corinthians 12:1, 4-6
  • So, within all of us that are Christ-followers, we have these gifts within us that help us.
  • The question would be…. What do these gifts help us to do?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 12:7
  • We all have this “gift” within us that we are not to be the only ones that benefit from it but others are to benefit from it as well
  • As a Christian you should have that desire to help other just like Christ did while He was on this earth
  • There is something that you need to understand as you discover that “spiritual gift” that God has blessed you with.
  • You really need to see what these Spiritual Gifts are not…
  • #1- They are not natural talents
  • #2- They are not just given to the Elite Few
  • #3- They are not just given to those that are “Spiritually Mature”
  • #4- They are not the “Fruits of the Spirit” (read Galatians 5:22 & 23)
  • #5-  They are not something to fear
  • So, what are some of the spiritual gifts….
  • Read Romans 12:6-8 & 1 Peter 4: 10 & 11
  • God has gifted us to do well and help other people and the best part is that when we use our gifts, it brings glory to Jesus Christ
  • Why wouldn’t you want to use the gift that God has blessed you?
  • This is what we did last night, we gave every flipsider a test to take to give them insight on the gift that God has blessed them with (here is the web address for that site…  http://www.teensundayschool.com/tinymce/filemanager/files/activity/spiritualgiftsanalysis.pdf . Print it out and take it)
  • Know that you have some insight here are somethings you need to do:
  • #1- Study what the Bible has to say about your gift
  • #2- Ask God to continue to show you your gift
  • #3- Examine what you enjoy and do well
  • #4- Do what the Holy Spirit leads you to
  • Now, since you have some insight…. You are responsible to use the gift that God has blessed you with.
  • I encourage you to get with me on how you can use your gift

For more insight on your gift, email me at leo@praisefamily.org and I will send you what I went over last night. Don’t miss next week as we hit on “Being filled with the Spirit.” Come expecting God to do something in your life!!!

Tonight’s Service (11/2)!!!

If you missed tonight, you really missed a great service!!! Got really did some amazing things in the live of some flipsiders. For the last 2 weeks we’ve been talking about the Holy Spirit and how He operates in our life on a daily basis. If you missed last week, be sure to scroll down a couple of articles and catch up. I promise that it will be worth it. Here is a recap of tonight’s sermon:

  • Last week, we hit on the “presence” of the Holy Spirit, tonight we hit on the “power” of the Holy Spirit
  • Read Acts 1:4 & 5, and then 8 (There is where Jesus mentions the kind of power we will receive when the Holy Spirit comes on us)
  • The word power in verse 8  means a force, miraculous power, the explosive power of God.
  • So, not only do you have the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life but you also have the power of Him as well
  • There are four things that the Holy Spirit gives us power to do…
  • #1- To Share Christ Boldly
  • Read 1 Corinthians 2:4-5…
  • One of the hardest things for students to do is to share their faith
  • One of the biggest mistakes any Christian can do is not lean on the Holy Spirit when we have that opportunity
  • The Holy Spirit gives us the power (words) to share Christ
  • #2- The Holy Spirit Gives Us Power When We Are Weak
  • Read Romans 8:26 & 2 Corinthians 12:9 & 10
  • HIS POWER is made perfect in our WEAKNESS
  • When we find ourselves weak and struggling, we need to learn to totally depend on God
  • #3- The Holy Spirit Gives You Power To Have Hope In A Hopeless World
  • Read Romans 15:13….
  • When you really think about the condition of this world and where its heading, you can easily say there is no hope
  • When you walk in your school’s hallways or even possibly in your home… you can easily say there is no hope
  • You may feel like there is no hope in your relationship with God cause you try so hard and yet you continue to fail…
  • When we trust in the power of the Holy Spirit, that gives us HOPE
  • #4- The Holy Spirit gives you the power to experience all the fullness of God
  • Read Ephesians 3:16-19…
  • That is exactly what a lot of students need, TO EXPERIENCE THE FULLNESS OF GOD
  • When you experience the fullness of God, it is something very hard to turn your back on.
  • I will never forget the first time I experienced the fullness of God, it was in Orlando, Florida on August 11, 1999
  • The Holy Spirit dwells and abides in you
  • Why would you not want to take advantage of the gift that God has blessed you with?
  • Why would you neglect what the Holy Spirit could do in your life?
  • To neglect/resist the Holy Spirit is to neglect/resist God
  • The sad thing is that some people want to live the way they want to and not change!!!
  • The sad thing is that so many people know the truth and are going to miss heaven!!!
  • Why not tap into what God has for us and experience every bit of it?
  • JUST THINK WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF ALL FLIPSIDERS TAPPED INTO EVERYTHING GOD HAS TO OFFER US!!!

Are you willing to take a “stand” and say you want to walk in the full power of the Holy Spirit????? I want to encourage you to sign up for “IGNITE 2011. This is going to be a great event and I am praying that this will be an experience that you will never forget. Its not so much about the “event” in itself, its about you coming expecting God to do something in your life!!! If you come wanting to experience the fullness of God, God is coming to totally do something in you. Sign up ASAP before it sells out. Hope to see you next Wednesday night as we hit on the “Gifts of the Holy Spirit.” – Pastor Leo

Last night @ flipside!!! (10/26)

For those of you that missed last night, you really missed a special night in flipside!!! Several people were either caught up in homework or just went to the fair.  Know you were missed!!! We started a new series last night, titled “Ghost” and it went over really well. Here is a recap and really take sometime to look over this and let it sink in:

  • The Holy Spirit/Ghost is a subject that a lot of people like to avoid
  • It has a lot to do with maybe misunderstanding or even being taught wrong
  • The goal behind this series is to answer some questions or even concerns that you may have.
  • The Holy Spirit was mentioned in the Bible over 800 times
  • It was actually mentioned in the second verse of the Bible
  • Read Genesis 1:2
  • During the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was mentioned in how it was evident in King Saul and David.
  • In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit was seen descending upon Jesus in the form of a dove.
  • You can see how the Holy Spirit was doing some awesome things in the Book of Acts… There were those speaking in tongues and performing some awesome miracles.
  • Now, in order for all this to take place Jesus had to leave the scene
  • Read John 16:7
  • Jesus said that it was best for Him to leave. That way we can receive the Counselor He has for us
  • The Counselor is the Holy Spirit. The word counselor means an intercessor, consoler, advocate, comforter, and helper.
  • So, we see that the Holy Spirit is actually good for us and is something that we need.
  • Matter of fact, you have the Holy Spirit dwelling/living in you.
  • The sad thing is that we can easily find ourselves not using that gift that God has blessed us with.
  • This is what it boils down to… The Holy Spirit is God in spirit form;-)
  • Read John 14:16-17
  • Why is it that so many of us live a life that is spirit-less?
  • Why is there so many people that are not taking advantage of this awesome gift that God has blessed us with?
  • There are two reasons why….
  • #1- Some aren’t aware of the the Holy Spirit
  • Read Acts 19:1-3
  • There are those that have no idea about the gift that God has blessed us with, just like these people in the Book of Acts
  • There are those that have no clue what the Holy Spirit is capable of doing and how it can totally help your walk with God
  • If you are looking for a way to enhance your walk with God and help you walk this out, then look no further:-) Continue to read….
  • Another reason people live a spirit-less life….
  • #2- Some people just plainly resist the Holy Spirit
  • Read Acts 7:51
  • There are those that just resist out of fear or discomfort
  • Here are some ways we resist the Holy Spirit…
  • When we felt like we needed to tell someone about Jesus and didn’t, you were resisting the Holy Spirit. What was leading you to reach out to your friend or even invite them to church was the Holy Spirit.
  • When that time came that you felt like you needed to do something for someone or even bless them (homeless or even a friend) and you didn’t do it. There is a huge possibility that the Holy Spirit was leading you to do it.
  • Or even when you felt like you needed to do something or say something to someone to encourage them or whatever it may be. There is that huge possibility that the Holy Spirit was leading you to do that. In that moment, it could of opened a door to lead someone to Christ or just being God’s hand extended.
  • To not want to live a life that is spirit filled, is crazy to me.
  • There are three things that the Holy Spirit will do for you
  • #1- It will comfort you
  • Read John 14:6
  • When you are hurting the Holy Spirit will comfort you
  • It will happen at times when you feel like the world is caving in on you and you feel this overwhelming peace that everything is going to be OK. That is the Holy Spirit.
  • You felt this comfort during a worship service, that was the Holy Spirit.
  • You may feel this comfort just sitting there and reading this, that is the Holy Spirit.
  • #2- The Holy Spirit will Counsel You
  • A lot of times we don’t know what to do or where to go and the Holy Spirit is there to guide us
  • Read John 16:13 & Isaiah 30:21
  • We all have those moments where we here this inner voice or this assumption (feeling) that is trying to make the right decision or take the right direction, that is the Holy Spirit.
  • #3- The Holy Spirit will also convict us
  • John 16:8
  • This is the easiest way to say the Holy Spirit dwells in us.
  • We all find ourselves at the place when we are possibly fixing to do or say something we shouldn’t. There is this feeling or voice that we here that tells us that we shouldn’t. Majority of the time, its the Holy Spirit!!! There are also those small amount of times that you know better;-)
  • The Holy Spirit dwells in us and is there to guide us and help us to be who God has called us to be.
  • Its up to us to listen to Him and be obedient!!!
  • Are you taking advantage of the gift that God has blessed us with?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope to see you next week and if you missed last night, we missed you!!! We will hit on the Power of the Holy Spirit.

-Pastor Leo
